Implants are titanium cylinders placed in the bone as root replacements for missing teeth. The cylinder of an implant acts like a root for the tooth. An abutment can be anchored on it and a crown can be placed on the abutment. The replacement prosthetic tooth can be perfectly matched with the original tooth color, giving you a realistic result. Unlike bridges or partial dentures, implants do not alter or damage adjacent teeth. Implants provide a more permanent solution to missing individual teeth than crowns, bridges, or dentures. If you have more than one tooth missing, implants can also support bridges or dentures.
