What is Root Canal Therapy?

Root Canal Therapy is the process of saving teeth, that otherwise have to be extracted, by treating the inside of the tooth. An area of soft tissue inside the tooth is called pulp. It carries the tooth's nerves, veins, arteries, and lymph vessels. When the pulp becomes inflamed or infected, it has to be removed, and the canal that the pulp was in has to be filled with inert material. Very often, a crown has to be put over the tooth to protect the tooth and make it stronger. Patients often think of root canal treatment as a painful procedure, but root canal treatment doesn’t cause pain. It alleviates the pain by removing the damaged tissues.
